Sourcing

The resin of the liquidambar tree is sustainably collected by local producers using traditional methods. In the spring, tappers prepare the trees by incising the trunk. The sap exuding from the cut is collected every day throughout the summer. The raw Styrax gum is brought to local cooperatives for filtration, and then distilled by our local suppliers.

Honduras

In El Paraíso region, farmer cooperatives mainly harvested pine and coffee until one day a disease struck and harmed their income. As Styrax is already planted to provide shade for the coffee, Nelixia and dsm-firmenich initiated a program on Styrax to guarantee market security and fair prices, while ensuring that quality and sustainable practices continue.
